The Te Huruhi Community Pool  is about more than just a physical swimming facility, we are also about creating jobs in our local community. From managers to teachers to lifeguards we are looking to create jobs right here on the island.

SWIM TEACHERS

Swimgym at the Te Huruhi Community Pool teaches the children of Waiheke how to swim, And we are always looking for new, passionate instructors to be part of the team!

We offer after-school and weekend programmes (6-8 hours per week), but will also have work available in our school holiday and in-school swimming programmes.

These positions will suit people who want to play an important role in the lives of our islands youth. You may be a high school student who would like to walk 200m to their after-school job. You may be a semi-retiree who wants to work in a rewarding occupation for a small number of hours per week. We welcome a variety of applicants to teach our students, who range from 3-15 years of age.

Swim teachers need the AustSwim Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety certification which consists of a two-day course, a competency assessment and 10 hours of lesson plans. Swimgym will pay for this certification for teachers that have committed to teaching with us.

The pay rate for this position is $19-$21 depending on experience and qualifications.

    LIFEGUARDS

    We are always looking for part-time lifeguards who are observant, patient, and good with people. Your job will be to ensure our users are safe and have fun at our pool. As the person responsible for their safety during opening hours, you will have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible and calm manner.

    • Right to work in NZ
    • Current first aid certificate
    • Current New Zealand based Lifeguard certification
    • Willing to submit to (and able to pass) NZ Police vetting (as you will be working with children)

    Over summer holidays we look to open every day (dependent on sufficient lifeguard staff). During the school term we operate outside of school hours – generally Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday. As we are an outdoor facility, our season runs from October – April annually. We recognise that you may only be available at certain times, so even if you are not able to commit to all our hours, please get in touch to discuss what may work for you.
