Local Board backed a call for the community to be allowed to raise funds by asking for donations from visitors
Progression of the proposal for an indoor swimming pool complex on Waiheke High School grounds, following the Committee’s successful applications to the 2004 and 2005 Auckland City Council’s Facility Partnership Scheme.
The completion of a community needs assessment on the Island in December 2003. Key findings included the projected likelihood of use to be extremely high, and that key preferred activities included relaxation, lap swimming, aqua-aerobics and learn to swim. Waiheke High School Grounds was identified as the preferred site.

Recreation Waiheke 1994 identified an aquatic centre as a priority for the community.
A community funded pool survey carried out in 1994, demonstrated a strong community
desire for a year round aquatic facility on the island.
In the early 1990’s, a Swimming Pool Committee was set up and funds were raised towards
the provision of a community pool. The project did not eventuate.
